First Explorations

After we started work, we just had our Tuesdays and Wednesdays free (but not all the time, since we may choose to work to earn more $$). Our first explorations began in the little touristy town of Orlando itself -- along this stretch of road we call the International Drive.

It's a whole stretch of shops, including plenty of gift shops, and restaurants. It's so long, that the shops start repeating themselves further down.

The first along the stretch is their convention centre. It's really huge!!

And then further down, there is Pointe Orlando. It's a mini shopping centre, undergoing renovations. But since it's quite near our place, we go there for movies sometimes. I think I caught Return of Superman and Click there. The "good" thing about their movie theatres is that it's really easy to hop from one theatre to another. So if you're lucky, you can actually spend an entire day watching movie marathon for the price of one! If you don't feel good, then pay and buy their drinks/popcorn. They only have salted popcorn though, no sweet ones.

See that's an interesting building. It's called Wonderworks, and it's like a house turned upside down. I haven't been inside, but I guess it's stuff to do with science. There's also Ripley's Believe it or not near Wonderworks.

At the end of International Drive, you will end up at the PRIME outlets. These are factory outlets, one of those places we like to go for shopping. They really have lots of stuff. The place is huge too. The concept of shopping is kind of different in the States though. In Singapore, we tend to comb the shopping centre from top to bottom levels. However, PRIME outlet is actually made up of 4 single-storey buildings. So we have to walk across instead.

This is just a random picture -- caught the sunset while waiting for the bus to go home. You might think it's probably 6 plus in the evening. But no, the sun sets at 7 plus or even close to 8.

Lovely...
